Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026 (v1.1)
1. Introduction
This policy explains what AISmut ("we", "us") collects when you use aismut.io, why, and what you can do about it.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Your email address, name and a hashed password when you create an account
- Your Google account's email address, name and picture if you sign in with Google
- The story ideas you type and the stories written for you
Information collected automatically
- Pages you visit, the referring site, your browser, device type and approximate country
- Page speed measurements (Core Web Vitals)
- Your IP address and browser, stored with your sign-in session to keep it secure
3. How We Use It
- To provide the Service: your account, your sign-in and your stories
- To count visits and understand which pages work
- If you create an account, to connect your earlier visits to it, so we know how people find us
- To prevent abuse and fraud
4. Your Stories
Stories you create while signed in are saved to your account, together with the idea behind them. They are private: not shared, not published, and not used to train AI models. The idea you type on the home page stays in your browser tab until you start writing; it is not put in the page address.
5. Services That Process Your Data
- Vercel - hosts the website
- Neon - hosts the database with your account and stories
- PostHog - counts visits and records sign-ups (see Cookies below)
- Google - signs you in, only if you choose "Continue with Google"
- Cloudflare - runs our domain's DNS and sends our emails
These services handle your data under their own privacy policies.
6. Cookies and Browser Storage
Sign-in. When you sign in we set a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary, so we do not ask for consent.
Analytics. PostHog keeps an anonymous id in a cookie and in local storage, so it can count returning visitors and, if you create an account, connect your earlier visits to it. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this happens only if you accept on the cookie banner; if you decline, visits are counted without cookies or storage, using a privacy-preserving hash on PostHog's servers, and are never connected to an account. Elsewhere it is on by default, and you can block it in your browser.
Your story idea. We use session storage in your browser to carry your idea from the home page to the writer.
7. Data Security
Passwords are stored only as hashes, and all traffic is encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
8. Your Rights
You can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correct it
- Delete your account and everything in it
Write to support@aismut.io from the email address of your account. We answer within 30 days. When we delete an account, we delete its sign-in details, profile and stories.
9. Children
The Service is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors and delete any account we learn belongs to one.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
